I am happy to present to the society new "Fellows" of the Alpha Mu Tau Fraternity (AMTF), Judith Parsons, BS., CLS, MT(ASCP) and Halcyon St. Hill, ED.D., MS., MT(ASCP). They were inducted into AMTF on July 24, 2009, at our Annual Dinner Meeting in Chicago, IL. Unfortunately, Judy and I were unable to attend the ceremony services. The purpose of AMTF shall be the advancement of clinical laboratory science as a scientific profession by providing monies to deserving applicants for educational endeavors. Membership is by invitation only and one must have two (2) members as nominators. Those who have made outstanding contributions to Clinical Laboratory Science and worthy of recognition are encouraged to join by a member. Lynn Ulmer, our current President and I nominated Judy. Leon Headley and Ruby Howard nominated Halcyon.
Judy is a veteran ASCLS member, expanding more than 25 years, and employed as an Area Technical Specialist, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics. Recently she has received the Lab Specialist of the Year Award. Currently, Judy serves as our Industry Scientific Assembly Chair with exemplary service on the local, regional, and national levels. Among her many awards and honors includes; Omicron Sigma Awards for over 10 years, Service Awards, Member of the Year and Past President Awards.
Halcyon, another veteran ASCLS member with 23 years of service with employment as; Professor, Faculty Senate President, Member and University Board of Trustees, Florida Gulf Coast University. She serves as our Treasurer/Bylaws/Scholarship Chairperson and Chair of the Generalist and Public Health assembly for ASCLS. Her exemplary service spans two regions of our society as state president of the New Jersey Society and Florida Society. Her contributions and awards are enormous to include; Florida Gulf Coast University Distinguished Awards, Excellence in Individual Service Award, 2008 and 2009 Excellence in teaching from the FGCU Student Government, Omicron Sigma Awards, Member of the Year and Past President Awards.
Both candidates were worthy of nomination to Alpha Mu Tau Fraternity for their distinguished contributions to their profession and outstanding services to their community. We are so very proud and congratulate them both on their prestigious membership. |
