The mission of the Florida Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (FSCLS) is to promote the profession of clinical laboratory science and provide beneficial services to those who practice it in the State of Florida.
Our national organization is the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS). FSCLS enables its members to provide quality services for all consumers, the society is committed to the continuous quest for excellence in all its activities, and:
- Promotes high standards of practice in the workplace
- Advocates professional autonomy
- Ensures professional competence
- Supports worthy educational efforts at all levels
- Encourages laboratories in their pursuit of expanded roles and responsibilities
- Enhances the public's understanding and respect for the profession and its practitioners

What is 2009 H1N1 (swine flu)?
2009 H1N1 (sometimes called “swine flu”) is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. This virus is spreading from person-to-person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) signaled that a pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway.
